I like to thing I do a pretty decent job of keeping our house under control most of the time. Well, before having a baby I would say I kept the house under control almost all of the time. After having a baby, I have had to readjust my expectations on how our home should look.
Brian very sweetly and frequently tells me that I am what keeps our house and lives running. I especially appreciate it on the days when I don’t feel like I have it together!
These last few months I have been working on creating a laundry routine. I have a great system down that took some trial and error. Lots of organizers suggest creating a laundry routine, but I like to see examples!
Here is ours:
I do laundry every weekday. I only do laundry on the weekends for cloth diapers/baby if it falls on that day.
Monday: Brian & Vera clothes.
Tuesday: Every other week. Linens/bed sheets. I used to do every week but we all go to bed clean (we shower at night.) so I figure we can stretch it out.
Wednesday: Every other week. Whites.
Thursday: Brian & Vera clothes.
Baby/Cloth Diapers: Every two to three days (depending on how many diapers are used!)
Kitchen Towels/Napkins/Misc.: Thrown in either baby wash (since it is on Sanitary setting) or Whites.
Miscellaneous: When my nephew stays over, his clothes are washed with ours.
We rarely use the dryer except when it comes to towels. Our linen sheets recommend air drying and I have found it is much easier and preferable to hang up our clothes to dry. I hang them up in our guest bedroom’s closet. Cloth diapers and undergarments go on a drying rack.
I really like having a steady laundry routine because when I didn’t actively plan it out I would have loads of laundry one day and then nothing on another. It was too chaotic for me.
Do you have your laundry under control? Am I the only one with a laundry routine? I wish mine would magically be put away, but even that takes a little bit of work too!
