Last month I really took notice of how horrible we let our deck become. I partially blame it on having a baby, then having our grill break, and then just not caring enough because whenever I am outside I am attacked by mosquitoes. Oh the woes of living in the South!
Anyway, I decided enough was enough and we should at least pretend to care that our deck looks awful. We had a guy power-wash the deck and treat it two years ago, and it already needs another go round.
I swept the deck from stray leaves, emptied the plant containers that were growing weeds (at one time, they grew herbs), and decided to do something about the game table and chairs (more on that next time).I recruited the hubby to help me take apart the plastic slats on the seat and the wooden armrests. We decided to skip the power-wash this year, so as another solution I had an artificial turf rug that we bought for Bunny’s birthday party (we used it as part of the tablescape). It fit the deck pretty well and the family really loved it. We enjoyed it for a few days before the summer heat made it feel awful to be outside. I thought it was a nice solution since we are always padding in and out of the house on bare feet to put out our recycling.
