I think I was struck by pure genius coming up with this idea. I started off by letting my nephew and Bunny play with flashlights. When my nephew wanted to have a dark room in the middle of the day, I remembered that when I was a little girl, I loved grabbing a whole lot of blankets and making a fort to read books. This was especially wonderful in a bunk bed.
All those quilts I made came in handy. This was the first version.
Then we got Uncle Brian/Dada involved and he made it better by stringing Christmas lights inside the fort. The kids especially loved that part.
This fort would not have been complete without a “Gustes List” (Guests) which my nephew wrote down the names of everyone who could enter.
Sure the family room got a little messy, and we didn’t have dining chairs for about three meals, but I think it was totally worth it. Especially when my nephew shouted, “This is the best day of my life!”
Except, he seemed to have forgotten we took him to Disney World and the Lego store just the week before. Go figure. 🙂
