I have been working on a quilt these last couple of weeks and as I was mulling over how to quilt my new project, I stumbled across this wonderful Loopy Flowers Quilting Tutorial. I have taken a free-motion quilting class before and have quilted a couple of projects free-motion style.
During baby’s nap time, I started practicing the loops. I could not get my flower to look right with six petals.
It felt much more natural to me to work with five petals and I am much happier with how it came out.
Of course this is the practice swatch. I know that it won’t look the same when I actually start working on the quilt, but at least I will have a good idea of it will all flow.
Next time I would like to get the spacing done right, but I think this was good to practice a bit. Of course, I am still trying to convince Brian that I need a new sewing machine so that I can properly quilt with more room in the machine’s throat. 🙂
