Date Started: July/August 2012
Date Completed: October 2012
I was shopping with one of my friends at a quilt shop when I stumbled across this fabric line (Prayer Flag for Moda) that made me immediately think of Brian’s parents. I thought it would be fun to make a quilt for them for Christmas. While they had the jelly roll for the fabric, I ended up ordering the rest of it online.
I decided to make a postage stamp quilt following this pattern with modifying the borders to become a larger quilt. It came together really quickly in August as I cut and stitched away.
My nephew helped lay out the quilt blocks for me to sew!I quickly pieced everything together and then when I was hit with morning sickness I could not finish it. Thankfully I had finished quilting it and only had the binding left to complete. My mom threatened me because I was vegging on the couch too much. She said if I was going to be useless on the couch I might as well use my hands and finish the quilt! I quilted it with Oh, Fransson’s Loopy Flowers Tutorial and added meandering leaves to fill in the spaces a bit more.I am glad to have finished and even more happy to share. It was hard keeping it a secret for so long!
