A couple of weeks ago, I took a workshop to learn to make a Waldorf style doll. I don’t know what compelled me to sign up for it, because Bunny has not really been interested in dolls and I have been complaining that we have enough stuffed animals/toys around the house anyway. I think the idea of making something on my own is much more appealing and compelled me to take the workshop anyway!
I definitely have a greater appreciation for doll-making, especially after seeing what I initially thought were crazy prices online. I guess the same goes for quilts. I never understood why a handmade quilt cost so much until I made them on my own!
I made a doll from this:
To building a body (the right side was my instructor’s):
To almost finishing with this:
I have to get clothes on the doll now, or figure out how to make it. Who knew doll-making would be such a laborious process! My fingers were aching by the end of it since it was all hand-sewn and I was there for about 7+ hours.
I really, really enjoyed the process. But I don’t think I need another hobby right now as Nagini’s birth date approaches. Right? I mean, I still have to finish two Maggie Rabbits. Right? 🙂
