There is nothing I like more than saying, “DONE!” with a project. One of the big projects has been to create a toddler room for Bunny.
On our second floor, we have a row of rooms on the left side. It goes from one bedroom, then bathroom, then bedroom, and then another bedroom. When we first put together Bunny’s nursery, she was in the middle bedroom. This was great for us location-wise, but we cringed whenever someone was using the bathroom because it always seemed to wake her up. You can see her old nursery here.
Once I became pregnant, we decided to move her to the room to the very end of the hallway, and put Nagini’s room at the front so there would be space between them so that they will (hopefully) not wake each other.
It’s been a couple of months in the process, but it is done! I am happy with how it turned out…well, almost happy. More on that in a sec:
I like that we incorporated parts of her nursery into her current room:
The art is hung a little bit lower so that she can see them. There is a bunny figure that my stepfather gave to her when she is born sitting on top of Brian’s pins from when he was in Webelos. The frame underneath that with the spoon is a little family history dating back. The cross-stitch is from my cousin who stitched it just for me on a trip to China a while back:
Here is where we read her books. We got the chair from an antique store for only $50 and the lamp was Brian’s uncle’s when he was younger:We kept the center open because that’s where Bunny loves to play and create havoc.
Okay, so the part I am not 100% happy about is the bed. This was originally going to be Nagini’s crib and Brian was going to put together a Jenny Lind bed for Bunny that was in his family. (We got the headboard and footboard from his grandparents but it totally fell apart when we brought it home, and he spent a ton of time trying to fix it, but right now we are not sure if it will work any more. I’ll have to post that story another day…)
The quilts in the room are made by me, though the blanket hanging over the bed was actually mine when I was a little girl! She adores using it more than the quilts I made for her!
We transitioned her crib into a toddler bed about a week before she turned two. I’ll have share that story too in a couple of weeks:I love how we re-purposed the shelves into a reading section. It is the perfect height for her to grab the book that she wants to read:There you have it! This room has a ton of vintage stuff in it. From some of the art, to the lamp, to the chairs, the curtains, and her dresser.
This room is definitely made for Bunny with lots of love.
