This week’s challenge was all about piles. Oh piles.
They are the bane of my organizing/cleaning existence. This usually happens on my desk.
Since we moved our office space, this was how my desk normally looked upstairs on the third floor:
Pretty bad, huh? Well, after moving our office, I am proud to say that my desk looks like this right now:
I am fully utilizing my metal racks:
They are housing my put-off projects which I will deal with next week. That’s probably why I had piles on my desk. Because I could not mentally deal with all the projects I needed to get done that were sitting on my desk!
One pile I dealt with was a stack of journals I had that dated as far back as 1995(!). I kept the journals in a box that we moved from place to place and finally kept them in our bedroom closet. Well, as I was doing all this cleaning, I decided it was time to go through it:
I ended up ripping out all the entries and then having my personal assistant help me shred the evidence:
I decided getting rid of the journals was much healthier since there is a lot of venting and silly immature things that I worry my children will get a hold of one day! That really motivated me to get rid of everything! Well, I did keep one journal that documented mine and Brian’s first trip to China and Hong Kong for the first time. I will probably use that to re-create a scrapbook later.
Next week I will be tackling the things that are on my metal paper rack on the wall. I’m not sure how much of it I can accomplish, but it will definitely be nice to have empty slots!
