We’ve been in Texas now for 19 days. I’m still not sure how I feel about it! Everything feels very surreal, and we are dealing with contractors and the like these last couple of weeks. That’s a separate story itself. (Hint: UGH!)
When we first arrived we checked into the hotel we stayed at during our previous visit in August. It was nice as the employees remembered us.
The worst part was the mosquitoes. I’m talking about the swarm of mosquitoes that seem to surround southeast TX. It got so bad that we were dashing through the doors and screaming at each other, ‘Hurry up!” It was pretty much straight out of a horror movie as we watched mosquitoes banging against the windows of the car trying to eat us.
Unfortunately the locals here say that it’s not bad right now with the bugs. I cannot imagine.
After painting drama, we decided to move into the house on a Wednesday. Our furniture was supposed to arrive on Friday. It didn’t arrive until the next Wednesday.
Living out of our suitcases and air mattresses for furniture was bearable, but it was not easy with two babies in tow. My back aches just looking at the air mattress right now.
When our stuff finally arrived it was wonderful and welcome. We’re still unpacking here and there, but the girls’ rooms are finished (minus hanging stuff on the walls). My biggest priority was making sure they felt like they were at home, but Bunny has been really fussy and crying before bedtime at night.
Our house is causing all sorts of drama. I’m not sure why a 13 year old house would give us so many problems, but I guess it’s the age (temperamental tween). I am trying to find some humor in this, but it’s hard. I’ll have to share more about that soon.
