I’m a big fan of simpler holidays like Thanksgiving. You get together, eat, and no pressure for presents!
That being said, Brian and I are planning on gifting Bunny with a play kitchen (plus accessories from my mom) for Christmas. Technically, we already have the present:
Over the early spring, there was a yard sale in our (old) neighborhood. Our (former) next door neighbors run a daycare from the house, and they were selling this play kitchen. Brian bought it for $20. It sat in our garage ever since.
Our intention was that we would paint it and fancy it up a bit to give to Bunny to play. Somehow over the weekend, this became my project. I guess it’s fair since I have done this to Brian a few times before!
Since I don’t really do any type of construction/DIY stuff, I wasted some time by hand sanding and scraping the really gunky masking tape off. I finally realized how much faster it went when I unscrewed all the doors and shelves and used the power sander to go through everything.
After a good wiping with a damp cloth, they are now sitting in our garage, waiting for the first few coats of paint. I’m leaning towards blue, since that’s Bunny’s favorite color. I plan on putting in a sink and re-doing the burners. I would like to make her fridge magnetic, so we’ll see how much progress I make with Christmas coming next month.
I do have a backup gift, so if this fails, then I can save it for her birthday!
