Have you ever taken the time to look at how your home has evolved? My favorite part of House Hunters is when they show the end how the new homeowners have put their stamp on their place.
When we were house hunting in Texas, I took a lot of photos of the houses we considered. I looked through my photo folders and thought that it would be fun to present the “after” (or “right now”).
Since we bought this house a year ago, I went around last week and took photos in similar view. No decorating, no re-arranging furniture, and how our house usually looks! Part of keeping it real!
DINING ROOM, BEFORE:
DINING ROOM, TODAY:
We use the dining room for all our meals. It took us 10 months to finally do it though! The only thing we’ve really done is had the walls painted in this whole space (Sedate Gray by Sherwin Williams). Brian and i are planning on doing a little DIY with fixing the grout, and building a bench for the table he built. I am thinking about painting the hutch (good idea or no?). I would love to change out the light fixtures, but it’s considered very low priority right now.
LIVING ROOM, BEFORE:
LIVING ROOM TURNED PLAYROOM, TODAY:
We haven’t done much in here as far as changing anything other than the paint, but I love this space. I made the quilt rug, we organized their toys, and built a play kitchen. It’s a darling and fun space. I would love to add a comfy chair sometime. We used to keep an antique rocking chair in here, but Bunny rocked on it so hard that she flipped over in it!
We changed the paint colors (Rainwashed by Sherwin Williams). I wish we had thought to have the cabinets painted again because they could use it, but it’s not a big deal. I think it would be nice to do that and change the light fixture, but again, this is very low priority too.
We don’t eat our meals in here anymore, but we use the space for other things. Right now I have a couple of craft projects on the table, and if it’s clear, we’ll play board games there too.
This is a much smaller office space than what we previously had, but it’s constantly evolving. We closed off the second entrance into the master bathroom, painted it (Breaktime by Sherwin Williams), and it’s still crazy. I keep our house pretty organized and clean, but I find keeping a tidy craft office space a challenge! It’s organized chaos! 🙂 I think it would be fun to build a desk to better accommodate the space someday.
