Since we’ve been gradually making changes to the house, I’m guessing we’re planning on staying here for longer than a year! Last week we installed a new light fixture to the entryway.
While we rarely use the entryway light, it is a pretty big focal point in the house. You can see it from the family room, playroom, and as you access the hallways.
It was not the most exciting light fixture in the world, and it was kind of meh:
I thought it would be brilliant to order a Pottery Barn light (the Olivia), and was so excited when it arrived. Well, it turns out, 13 inches in diameter is super, super tiny for the space:
We went back and forth about whether or not we should return it, but I think we’ll install it into our master bathroom instead. And by “we,” I mean “the husband.” It was on his honey-do list, but I think I exhausted him from his four-day weekend with activities with the kids and other house projects.
Because this light is rarely used, we wanted to keep the price at less than $200. It was not an easy task to find the right size light, have it to be our taste, and budget! We took a trip to Lowe’s this weekend and came back with this light fixture:
It’s the allen + roth Antique Rustic Bronze Standard Pendant Light for $179. It’s not black, though it’s showing up in this photo that way. Our entryway is nowhere near finished, but at least we have something cool to look at by the front door until we adjust the space a bit more.
We’d like to eventually change out almost all the light fixtures, but we’re doing it a bit at a time.
