Having glass shower doors is not as glamorous as I imagined it to be. Dried water droplets sit on the glass the next day and taunt me until it’s shower time. And then it continues to build up until I’m left with this:
I searched on the web and Pinterest and tried a couple of suggestions. I’m all for shortcuts in cleaning.
The first one method I tried after moving in was using Rain-X and while the first few days was awesome, as soon as I used the squeegee, it went back to build-up. (Yes, that’s Brian with a ladder in the bathroom. This was taken during the crazy house updates we have been doing the last few weeks.)
Next, I asked Brian to pick up a glass shower product on the next Home Depot run and he came home with this:
I applied it to the glass and it actually worked for a little while. It was very similar to using Rain-X, except maybe with less fumes.
But now, two weeks later, it looks like this:
After breathing in all the fumes, and spending too much time and money, I think it’s just time to use a little elbow grease. My next attempt with be to consistently use a squeegee and go over it using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. If that doesn’t work then I’ll just have to come back later and wipe with a dry cloth.
If it gets really, really bad, I’ll get our contractor to give me a quote on how much it would cost to replace it with a frosted shower door! Ha!
Seriously though, any advice or thoughts about the upkeep of glass shower doors? One of my friends said her dad orders product online and squeegees all the time.
