When we came back from our vacation in March, we discovered that our lawn mower was broken. The gas leaked and it would not start.
After a brief talk, we decided to go ahead and buy a lawn mower. This is our 5th lawn mower in 10 years (two were damaged when we moved and one was a used mower), so we decided to invest a little bit and buy an electric mower. Our yard size is tiny, so a riding mower didn’t make sense, and we wanted to try something different, especially since our last mower and the mower before that had issues with gas leaking too.
We went to Lowe’s and picked up a Kobalt 40-Volt Mower and have been using it for almost 2 months now.
Okay, full disclosure here, but I have not actually used the mower or pushed it. Brian does all the mowing. But, I was impressed at how quiet the mower is. He used to wear ear protection with our previous mowers, but now he zips through and can listen to his headphones if he wanted. Our kids played around the front yard freely while he was mowing and we could converse with each other if we wanted. Pretty cool.
I have no idea how long the battery longevity will be in the long term, but right now it’s not an issue.
This weekend we spent time trimming the shrubs in the front yard. I end up trimming the shrubs most of the time, so Brian mowed the leftover leaves and smaller sticks that were in the yard. It went through them without issue.
Are you in the market for a lawn mower? Have you already made the switch? I was initially skeptical if it would get the job done, but it works for us!
