I had a nice Mother’s Day this year…and I jokingly tell Brian, finally!
On my first Mother’s Day, Brian was away on a job interview, then on my second, we ended up babysitting. Last year we flew back to VA to work and spend time with friends. This year, we were home and it was wonderful.
It felt like the whole weekend was a nice celebration. My mom flew in last week and we’ve been enjoying family time.
On Saturday we ate a hotel breakfast and visited with my mom’s friend, and then Brian’s sister came over to visit for a few hours. (She’s moving to Houston too in a couple of months!)
While we visited, Brian made me my most favorite breakfast food that I never get to eat: Eggs Benedict. It was delicious and I loved it.
For dinner, we ate pho and then got frozen yogurt. Yum.
On Sunday we made a trip to buy a pallet of plywood for hurricane season (getting a head start), got to Skype with his mom and grandmother to wish them a happy Mother’s Day as well.
Later, Brian watched the kids so that my mom and I could do a little retail therapy. It was nice and we had a good dinner together. Brian grilled country ribs and baked sweet potato fries while I used my new spiralizer toy to make zucchini noodles with pasta sauce. I know, I’m a little food obsessed right now, ha!
Our neighbors have this flowering vine that’s growing on the fence and it’s crept over onto our side.
The flower is so pretty, but I have no idea what it is. Any clues?
Happy belated Mother’s Day to you all.
