On Monday I surprised Brian with a scheduled test drive of a Tesla motor vehicle. Have you heard of them? They’re an automotive and energy storage company aiming to make electric cars more affordable to the masses.
My husband has been following them for the last few years. He is not a car guy at all, but he totally is with Tesla! I think it blends the right amount of geek and technology for him, and I love his enthusiasm even if I might not always know what he is talking about!
Anyway, since moving to Texas, we stopped by their showroom in Houston. I mentioned to Brian off and on that he could schedule a test drive, but he never took the leap to treat himself. I took matters into my own hands, and did it for him!
We have talked frequently about what our next car would be and he really would love a Tesla. But, neither of us has experience with an electric car, or even driven one, so I thought a test drive would give us something to consider if and when we decide to buy a car.
It was a lot of fun. The car was quiet and it’s definitely got a nice kick if you floor it. I’m an under or at the speed limit kind of driver, so I can’t see myself using that feature too much, or ever!
I think the price point is still a bit out of reach, especially for most people, so while I can say it was the most expensive car I’ve driven to date, I wouldn’t want to buy one right now.
It was super fun to surprise him and indulge a bit. I think I’ve only added to his obsession though! 🙂
