A couple of weekends ago, we updated the seating in our dining area. (Our breakfast nook is large enough for our farmhouse table.)
Here’s the “before”:
Here’s what it looks like now:
On our trip to Ikea to buy some plants, we decided to go ahead and buy the Norden bench. For months we’ve talked about building a bench for the dining table, but ultimately we decided we weren’t ready to take on that project right now.
Brian really wanted to build a bench with a nice back to it, but after some back and forth, it made more sense to not have one. Sure, it would have been more comfortable, but, the kids would be pulling it out and it would be so heavy for them to shift.
Plus, the price and time factor could not be beat. Solid wood for $79 and assembled in less than 10 minutes. It fits into the table perfectly which was a relief because we totally guessed on the length between the legs.
I mixed up our dining chairs. The gray chairs on the ends are also from Ikea. They’re the Henriksdal. The other side are chairs that are from a separate dining table set. The table is sitting in our office with the remaining 4 Henriksdal chairs for crafting. The other two chairs from the original dining set has one of the chairs is in our entryway and another in our bathroom. It worked out.
I like the mixed up, eclectic look but I have no idea what I’m doing! I like it though, so we’ll keep it that way for now until another brilliant idea comes along. 🙂
