Even though there are tons of ways to schedule things, I’ve found that keeping track our our schedules the old-fashioned way with pen and paper.
My system is very simple. I buy a planner that goes weekly, and keep it at my desk. Sometimes my kids sneak a pen or marker and draw all over it. But that’s okay, because I still use it to schedule things like:
- family schedules and outings
- vacation dates
- entertainment releases (book releases, DVD/movie releases, tv show releases)
- bills paid along with confirmation number, if applicable
- to-do list
Recently I’ve thought about adding how much money we’re spending each month into the planner. Meaning, after buying something, I would put the amount spent on that day’s calendar and then look over it in a month. It would be another way to keep track of spending, especially once we get our credit card statement I could look over everything to make sure it was right.
I cannot imagine having to do this all digitally because I like being able to cross off and mark things.
I’m not following the planner craze of decorating your planner like a scrapbook, though I have been known to keep my old planners for at least a year or two!
