I love seeing beautifully and sometimes awesome-ly tacky holiday decorations. They are so much fun to see and to celebrate.
However, as much as I love holiday decorations, we limit the amount of holiday decorations in our home because it feels like it’s too much. I don’t like the idea of decorating for something for a month and then it sit unused in storage for the rest of the 330 days of the year.
We don’t decorate for the seasons or holidays other than Christmas. (I’m a bit of a Scrooge in that I’m “done” with Christmas on December 26th and want to put everything away already!) We have a large Christmas tree and we also have a tiny one for the kids. My husband does all the lights and makes it look lovely. But, we limit ourselves to storing them in tubs that fit in our garage shelves and we make a conscious effort to not take on more.
If we didn’t decorate as much for Christmas, it would be fun to do Halloween, but for now, and for the sake of simplicity, we’ll enjoy visiting neighborhoods with delightful decorations.
