One of my first favorite celebrity chefs was Giada De Laurentis. I found her recipes to be straightforward for a cooking novice like me to gain some confidence in the kitchen.
In her newest book, Happy Cooking: Make Every Meal Count … Without Stressing Out, Giada focuses on healthy eating with everyday recipes.
The cookbook has over 200 recipes, and they cover everything from snacks to soups and stews. Since it’s a health-focused cookbook, there are chapters on eating clean with labels for the recipes that are gluten-free, vegetarian, or vegan.
I liked looking through the cookbook, but I wasn’t left feeling particularly inspired to run into the kitchen to make something. Some of the breakfast foods, like the savory breakfast crepes and the sweet pea and avocado toast look like ones that I’ll make eventually. I think this would be a good reference book to have though when I’m looking to make something a little healthier.
While I have enjoyed Giada’s previous cookbooks, I’m not sure if this format is as eye-pleasing. The images of Giada and her foods are photographed beautifully, but it looks a bit cluttered and mashed together.
This book is definitely for the Giada fans, and I’ll continue to keep my eye out for her future releases. I’m planning to keep this book in my collection, but it’d be more as a fan of hers than anything else.
