Even though I haven’t finished my 2015 family album, I’ve started 2016. (I ordered the last of the 2015 prints for September through December and they are on the way!)
I decided to keep up with my mostly monthly approach to memory keeping using the Project Life system. The downside for me has been how quickly I can have access to prints, but I usually wait when Shutterfly does their 101 free prints sale. In 2015, it was pretty much every major holiday so I wasn’t too far behind. With their cheaper prints, I can print a whole bunch out without feeling as bad about being “wasteful” with the extra photos I didn’t use.
Anyway, this year I decided to use up my stash with the cards I had on hand. (As my husband reads this as I type, I’m sure he is breathing a sigh of relief that I’m “saving” money this time instead of buying yet another Project Life kit!) I’m using mostly the September Skies Heidi Swapp core kit. I partially traded my Maggie Holmes Open Book core kit for it with a friend so it worked out as I plan to use whatever other cards would go with it. I’m not even sure if I will end up using the entire partial kit anyway since my albums are usually loaded with pictures.
Over the weekend, I took out my calligraphy nibs and ink and made monthly cards for them. I spelled October wrong the first time, so that’s why there’s a duplicate:
I’m also planning to supplement some of the photos with the Collect app. I keep thinking one of these days I should just do a complete album using it, but the photos are just too small and I’m limited in the word count. I think it adds a nice touch to the album though with snippets of our life.
I’m really excited to finish up some leftover projects, especially in the scrapbooking department this year. I know there’s no such thing as ever really being “done” for some things, but I’m looking forward to closing out 2015 and working on other projects.
How are you memory keeping for 2016?
