We had a pretty full weekend. On Friday night, we had one of our friends over for some tabletop gaming and then Brian’s sister arrived to spend the night. We woke up early on Saturday to head out to Galveston.
It was our first time going. One of our other friends invited us to join his family for the morning. Every year they have a family friendly Mardi Gras parade and they have been going for a very long time.
The kids loved it.
I don’t think the girls had every really been on a beach. They had been to the one on Lake Charles, but this was much closer to the beaches we had in the east coast.
Bunny had fun picking shells with our friend’s children and Nagini took a tumble into the water. Thankfully I did bring spare clothes for them to change into!
We’ve never really done Mardi Gras or followed it, but it seems like this side of Texas celebrates it as well as the folks in Louisiana do! The kids “got it” and waved and came back with a ton of beads! The parade was about an hour long and they had so much fun.
The kids are already asking when we can go back on the beach to play in the water again.
I’m amazed at how close to the beach we actually are and we definitely plan to go back again as the weather and water warm up.
