Last week, despite all the craziness with being sick, I managed to finish our 2015 family scrapbook album. This was my first year going with physical product. For 2012, 2013, and 2014, I used digital Project Life and printed the photo book.
Here is the cover page:
And a few of the layouts (pardon the messy desk, I am a messy crafter!)
One of the things I did differently this time was to focus monthly, and not weekly documentation. I didn’t notice much of a difference in the format, because I feel like I still captured parts of our everyday as well.
Since using physical product, I really wanted to keep the family album in ONE binder, since I’ve seen other scrapbookers albums extend into 2 or 3 binders for the year. So, I had to be really thoughtful about what I documented and what “made it” into the album.
As I neared the last quarter of the year, I almost considered doing a December daily style album, but in the end, it all fit and worked out. I still got my stories told and it worked out!
I store our albums on a hacked Ikea Expedit in our long entryway. I moved the scrapbooks down to “child-friendly” level so that my kids can access the books they want to look at (hence the slight disarray):
I’m going to continue documenting our 2016 in physical album format, but while I have some entries and things done, I haven’t printed out the photos just yet. Which…I guess I better get working on that next!
