One of the most interesting things that my Fitbit tracks is my sleep.
It totally confirms several things for me:
- I am a pretty restless in the beginning of my sleep.
- I am horribly-tempered when I get less than 7 hours of sleep.
I think it’s been pretty eye-opening to see my behavior when I don’t get enough sleep. I am grumpy, impatient, and downright mean at times. The smallest things make me upset and stressed out.
When I do get at least 7+ hours of sleep, I notice how much nicer and productive I am as a person when I do. I am more patient, forgiving, and thoughtful in my words and actions.
I am going to make an effort to get enough sleep, especially with two young children. As my mom’s visit winds down to a close, I will have to make even more of an effort to do better since most days she bails me out and helps me with the kids in the mornings!
When I think back to the newborn phase or even not that long ago, I am thankful to even get this much sleep. I vaguely remember feeling like a zombie during the first year of motherhood.
Here’s to my renewed priority!
