As I step back into blogging, I wanted to find something to get me writing again. Here are 5 things that have going on:
+ These last couple of weeks have been very surreal. Since my father’s passing, there are parts where I feel like our life is normal and we’re moving on and doing our daily life and then I have these moments of overwhelming sadness where tears burst forth and I just need a moment.
I traveled to my dad’s funeral and back within a few days. I’m trying to keep myself busy because I dwell a lot in my feelings. I’m trying to recognize that it’s normal and okay to be sad, but it does not define me.
+ We’ve been thinking a lot about budget lately and I’m amazed at how high our grocery bill can be. I’ve recently been attempting to make sourdough bread from scratch. As I type this I have two loaves in the oven now that are looking much better than this earlier attempt below:
+ When I flew back home and had to change flights in Chicago, I spotted this cool hydroponic indoor garden that the airport used for some of their restaurants. We have a small garden that’s been growing in our backyard (nothing to show of interest just yet), so now my husband has been plotting about how we can incorporate this inside our home(!)
+ One of the ways I have been keeping my mind off things is getting in so much board gaming time. I’ve had a couple of friends who have invited us over to their homes for time to play together. I don’t know if they realize how much I appreciate it, and it has been something we’ve been doing almost nightly at our house too. It’s helped.
+ We’re doing some more furniture rearranging and I’m trying not to drive my husband crazy with all my ideas. Most recently we moved a piece of furniture to create a more central “game room” and along with it went the scrapbooks. I’m rethinking my whole scrapbook approach and I’ll eventually share that once I have it all figured out.
