Next week we’re going to overhaul our office. The room is a formal dining room, but I’m not sure why there is carpet for the room. Most likely it was cheaper than adding more tile for the builder!
Since we don’t use the space as a formal dining room, we have used it as an office/craft room when we moved in. But, it was pretty much always a hodgepodge of furniture and randomness. We cleared almost everything out and are in the planning stages:
Right now we’re thinking of setting up the space as a place where we can use the computer, craft (this is especially important to me), do paperwork, and give the kids a space to do homework eventually. We have a generous space of about 9×15.
Here’s a draft of Brian’s “proposal” that we have taped to the wall. He envisions tons of shelves, but I see that as a dust magnet for me. So we’ll probably compromise with cabinets.
I have searched on Pinterest for some inspiring spaces, especially for dual zones. Of course, we want it to look nice without breaking a fortune, especially since crafting and children are a messy combination!
