A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that we were working on our home office. We talked about putting in built-ins and sketched out the plans for it. After many more conversations and talking about our wants and goals, we decided to simplify our plans.
With a 3 year old and a 5 year old, it didn’t make sense for at this stage in our life. I didn’t want to stress about furniture getting damaged/dinged/dirty. This is especially true as I am a really messy crafter.
Here’s the home office:
Ha, not much of an update, right? We bought a new desk at Ikea as they just happened to have their desks at 15% off that weekend. I decided to limit this space as more of an office and less of a place to craft. The main crafting is happening in our game room on my beloved gray vintage metal desk:
I opted to go with a smaller desk in the hopes that it would help me keep my desk clean. We still have to do things like cable/wire management to hide everything, but overall I’m happy with the “clean” and minimalist look.
This is the view coming from the kitchen space:
I’d still like to fill in the gap from the desk to the plants with even more plants.
The current view of our fauxdena:
I know there’s no arrangements or styling, but it makes me so happy to see mostly empty flat surfaces. It’s the minimalist in me.
But then, there is this little nook:
This is the collector in me! This cabinet holds craft supplies. I tucked it away because while I like having the stuff, I don’t necessarily want to see it.
View of the desk:
The wall of stuff. Hmm, I might ask my husband to help move that top star down a little bit, it’s a lot closer to the frame than I thought:
The nice thing is that aside from the cost of the desk, the only other new thing is the white picture frame on the wall. We had everything else, it was just a matter of rearranging things a bit to make it look a little cleaner. A win for the house, and a win for the wallet!
Eventually I think I would like to replace the ceiling light fixture and rip up the carpet, but it’s not a high priority right now.
