This summer we’ve been eating a ton of sandwiches. When I came across A Super Upsetting Cookbook About Sandwiches, I laughed. Well, I laughed at the title and then I laughed a bit more after reading this book.
There are recipes for all kinds of sandwiches ranging from seafood to chicken to veggies. I would never have considered a broccoli sandwich. Or an asparagus sandwich, but I’m willing to try! I’m most excited about making the sauces, like the Russian dressing or the mayo that tastes like pho.
The book is a pretty funny read. The names of his sandwich are quirky, like Don’t Cry for Me Argentina, or random, like Famous Rap Battles in History. The introduction to each recipe is a little random and jokingly rambly.
I noticed the art and photographs doesn’t take itself seriously. There’s some fun images (like a meatloaf with “But I Won’t Do That” written in sauce beside it).
The book is quirky and fun. I think if you’re looking to up your sandwich game, and get a chuckle out of it, this is a good place to start.
