We have been watching a lot of the Olympics on television. Although we are pretty strict with how much media our children consume, we have been pretty relaxed with letting them watch the Olympics. Bunny has been really into it and asks so many questions about the sport. It’s been pretty exciting to see their excitement, though Nagini does ask when she can “see the parade again” (opening ceremony) and to hear them chant, “USA! USA!” even if there are no USA Olympians in the pool! (Weird wiring shown in photo above because we are using an antenna for the Olympics.)
I found a great cookbook to help me dive into the world of pressure cooking! So far, I made Corn off the Cob soup, Homemade Sausage Gravy to go along with sourdough biscuits, and Brussels Sprouts with Bacon and Onions. The kids loved the soup, husband loved the sausage gravy and though I seem to be the only Brussels Sprouts fan around here, husband said it tasted better than usual!
I have been on a decluttering and organizing spree. I straightened out three closets and am working my way through our master bedroom closet.
Remember our “experimental veggie garden”? Well, it didn’t work out so well. I think we got to enjoy a handful of tomatoes and a few cucumbers. The rest were duds. Well, our herb garden is doing great and our scallions are thriving. The rest, I blame it on a combination of tons of rain the month we planted it and then our first-time gardening experience. This weekend Brian planted some seeds to start a fall garden and moved a fig tree (a coworker gave it to us) into a larger container.
Brian’s traveling to Germany for a few days for work and while I was initially bummed about it, I’ve changed my attitude a bit. We, okay, I am a big board game geek, and so I asked him to pick up some on my wish list for me. Here’s hoping he has time to find them and can fit them in his suitcase!
