Wow, it’s been a couple weeks of adjusting to life with a kid in kindergarten! The first week of school was emotionally tough for me and Nagini. I knew I would miss Bunny, but I actually cried a couple times! Nagini kept asking where her sister was and it was just tough.
Last week was much better as Nagini went back to preschool, and got back into her own routine as well, so while we all have earlier bedtimes, we’re adjusting to our “new normal.”
Here’s what’s been going on:
+ My mom arrived the other day and is staying for a few weeks before heading home. She’ll be back again in November through the new year and the kids are so happy and excited. It’s nice to have her here, especially during meal times! She has the magic to get our kids to eat their meals!
+ I’ve taken over the right side of the desk in the study space to work on my scrapbooks. I really want to share my plans soon, as I keep promising, but I am still in the middle and not quite able to share yet.
+ Since we rarely go out to eat, one of the things my husband likes to do with the kids is to go to the donut shop once a week. He takes them to pick out what they want and they bring it back along with a kolache for me. One of the local ones around here sells macarons, so I was very excited when he picked some up! I really want to learn to make them, but I seem to be the only fan of them since they are not as sweet as my sugar-loving family prefers.
+ I’m trying to get back into reading. I made a goal on my goodreads account to read at least 35 books of my own this year (not including reviews/kids books/etc.). I was about 5 books behind, but I’ve been catching up. I don’t have one that totally wowed me so it looks like another trip to the library this week!
+ We now have two fig trees (they were gifts from two different families/people), and a miniature garden going. Still have a ton of planning to do in our tiny backyard, and since it’s still summer here, and the mosquitoes are out, I’m getting impatient. I say this and I am currently nursing 3 mosquito bites!
