Back in 2009, my husband and I were invited to join our friend to France. Since she is originally from there, we got to have our own personal tour guide as we explored Paris for a few days, and then the French countryside. It was an amazing trip and we still talk and daydream about the things we saw and experienced, but most importantly, the food we ate!
As I read French Country Cooking: Meals and Moments from a Village in the Vineyards, I was transported back to our time in the French countryside. The recipes are beautifully photographed, and well-written. But for me, what I especially liked was the stories of the family, the people they encountered, and just the whole vibe of the community in their village.
I’m looking forward to going through the book and making the recipes to recreate our time in France. There is a chapter focusing on everyday cakes/desserts which would work perfectly for our after school “snack” time when my daughter comes home from school and immediately asks for dessert!
This book is definitely a keeper into my collection.
