This past weekend we had a fun time at a pumpkin patch with another family. As we walked and let the kids try different rides and activities, we talked about Christmas and how they were already decorating.
Well, this conversation got my husband motivated to get started on our house as soon as we got home that evening!
Yes, it is still totally early in my book, but my family will be arriving this weekend, and the following weekend Brian and I are taking our “honeymoon” away, and then it’s Thanksgiving. He wanted all our Christmas stuff out of the way before more people come into our house.
This year he finished in record time. We didn’t even get through the first Lord of the Rings movie when he was done with the tree. As I type this, both trees are done (well, minus the tree toppers).
Last year, we went out to all the day-after Christmas sales and clearance and bought almost enough LED lights to replace the ones on our tree. It was so nice to see him get it all assembled with minimal fixing of the lights this year! In fact, all the LED lights he put in worked, so that shaved off so much time.
The kids are thrilled with the decorations coming out and Nagini keeps running around to “fix” the ornaments on the kid tree.
Since my mom and my nephew are planning to be here for Christmas, I decided to make stockings. Which, reflecting now, seems a little nuts since I have a full week of getting things done before my family arrives.
I’ve been staying somewhat sane by making a list each day with a task of must-dos.
What have you been working on this week? I talked with several families and apparently they are all putting up their decorations now too!
