We haven’t had cats since Nagini was born. I love cats. My children love cats and frequently ask to have one as a pet. But with Brian being allergic, and he says, being able to breathe for the first time in years, it’s pretty much a solid no.
Last summer, I heard mewing outside our window before bed and saw a couple of kittens running around. Being the softie that I am, I ended up putting out a can of tuna. Then I bought a bag of cat food.
Well, after some starts and turns, I didn’t really see the cats again until this year, and have gradually worked to befriend them.
Meet Buttons and Penguin. Buttons is the black cat. Penguin is the gray cat. Yeah, ask Nagini about that one. 🙂
They are feral, but Penguin is now more “tame” in that he will run up and meow at our door asking for affection and/or food. Buttons is still a scaredy-cat in that he hovers around but is still frightened of getting too close. I managed to pet his head yesterday so we’ll see.
Our children love having them as “pets”.
I like having them without really having them. Once we can actually pick them up, I plan on getting them fixed.
