So, it’s been a little over a month since the bathroom renovation and I don’t think I’ll ever feel ready to show it off, but here goes anyway! Plus, with a teenage boy in the house, there’s no point to dress it up at this point. Here’s the before, demo day, remodel update, and the setback.
Brian and I made the mirror. We initially looked at buying two separate mirrored cabinets, but of course when the guy cut into the opening it was in the exact spot where the pipes ran through. We looked at a few mirrors before deciding to DIY our own with the Kreg Jig, stain, and finished it right before I left to go to the airport to pick up my sister and brother-in-law.
Here’s the finished cabinetry, which I use to store extra towels and toiletries on the top half. The bottom half holds a hamper and extra toilet paper.
Since they mixed up the grout colors on the floor and shower, they ended up having to paint the tiles.
And redid the shower tiles.
I’m happiest with the new layout because it makes sense in the house.
After our renovation I’ve learned that I will pay extra for a quality service or a more reputed company. It’s not worth the added stress and hassle of wondering whether or not someone is going to show up that day and have my life and schedule all torn apart.
Still to do: buy hangers/hooks for hand and towels.
This is our bath light. Wall color is Sherwin Williams Eider White SW7014. Cabinet color is Sherwin Williams Repose Gray SW7015. It’s hard to capture the right colors in the bathroom since there are no windows, and I’m relying on the warm tones of the bulbs here.
I’m glad it’s over!
