A few months ago the kids asked to share a bedroom. We moved Bunny out of her room and made it a “dressing room”, which is just a fancy way of saying where we keep their clothes stored in their dressers.
It was a bit out of control shortly thereafter because Bunny’s old dresser made it much harder for her to put away her clothes on her own.
After some planning, we decided to switch her dresser with two nightstands from the guest room and stick it together to form one dresser:
Once we did that, my mom made a great suggestion that I add labels to their dressers so they know where to put their things away:
I printed some labels after searching through Pinterest, and then cut and laminated them. Then, I taped them directly onto the drawers. The kids can’t read, so the graphics help them figure it out.
Once everything was sorted and organized, the kids totally got it and loved it. We’re trying to encourage independence but at the same time teach them the importance of picking up after themselves (which we are still working on with the toys!).
I can’t believe it took so long to come up with a simple solution, and I’m excited to see this continue.
