I wish I could say that we’re done with the bathroom remodel, but here we are, three weeks into the project (when they told me 2.5 weeks, TOPS!). I’m not going to lie, I have had a few tears over this dragging out. Nothing like rearranging my schedule and coordinating my life outside of the remodel only to have someone either no-show or leave your house after 5 minutes of work.
Here’s how the closet is looking:
This is where one of the sinks were originally. They initially did a draft of the closet with the rod on the right, but the doorway wouldn’t have allowed for the longer wall space to make it through with fitting in clothes when they are hanging up. So, they relocated the rods to the back wall and put up shelves on the right.
The vanity was built where the former closet was:
I asked them to make larger drawers because if there is something I really dislike about cabinetry, it is tiny drawers. The wall it is sandwiched on the left is where the new closet is on the other side.
The sink from the hallway was located here:
They’re supposed to add the doors to the top half too. I have no idea why it wasn’t done, or if the cabinet guy forgot after our meeting, but he came back to take measurements to do it.
In theory, it would have been cool to just leave it all open and decorate it nice and pretty, but there is a teenage boy who will be mostly using this space, along with various guests and visitors, so it would be easier on everyone with closed storage.
I hate feeling constantly stressed out about this and cleaning my house because there is so much dust that has been kicked up everywhere. Further down the road, I will be glad we undertook this renovation, but right now I find myself constantly angry and frustrated that this is dragging out.
Still to do for them:
- tiling around bathtub
- paint, paint, paint
- install faucets
- replace carpet
- pick out mirror(s?)
- light fixture
